HELP us keep SRJC aquatic facility clean & safe

Dan Greaves

Good afternoon Neptune families,

Hope this email finds you all warm(ish) and enjoying the sun today.

I'm recruiting all hands on deck to help us keep the SRJC aquatics facility clean and safe.  If each of us does our part, we should be able to tackle these issues and continue our amazing relationship with SRJC.  Please talk with your kids about these things while at home and we will talk with them when we are at the pool over the next few days.

1. Food is NOT allowed in the indoor pool.  Maintanance crew is spending too much time cleaning up spilled food fromt he deck & the bleachers and picking up trash left behind.  Please keep the snacks outside and throw away any trash that you bring to facility.

2. Men's locker room showers have been vandalized many times over the past year.  The shower heads in the handicap stalls (shower heads on the hose) have been repeatedly broken from the hose.  This has become such an issue that campus police has been investaigating to determine who the culprit is.  Each time a shower head must be replaced, it cost the school district a coupld hundred dollars for materials & time.  And more importantly, it makes the shower difficult to use for the people who most need them, the amazing Adaptive PE  class that is offered in the indoor pool M-Th.  The locker room is only to be used for a quick rinse & quick change.  The locker room is not a hang out area and it's not a play ground.  Please let your kids know that if they see anyone acting a way that isn't inline with our expectations, they should immediately let a coach know so we can stop this behavior before it gets out of control.

3. We all need to committ to using the stairs and walkways to gain access to the deck and outdoor pool.  We all need to stop walking through the bushes.  The issue is that we are bringing bark on our wet feet onto the deck and this bark is getting into the secodary drain on the deck and creating drainage issues.   There are 2 staircasses from the outdoor pool onto the upper deck into the indoor pool.  Walking through the bushes will not be tolerated and we will remind the athletes daily about this change in policy.

4. If you do not have a handicap plaque in your car, please do not park in the handicap spaces in front of the facility while waiting for your athlete to come out.  Park in a regular parking spot or wait in the waiting area (near the old entrance to the indoor pool).  Campus police has stated they will start ticketing waiting cars that do not have handicap plaques in their vehicle.

I know this is a lot and this is being sent to the entire team and some of you haven't been at the JC facility for very long but I just wanted to take this opportunity to recruit everyone to help us keep this facility as clean & safe as possible.

Thank you for your support & GO NEPTUNES!!
